Toorsa Strict Nature Reserve renamed

In appreciation of His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck's commitment to environmental conservation, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests has renamed the Toorsa Strict Nature Reserve as the “Jigme Khesar Strict Nature Reserve.”
 
Being the only strict nature reserve in Bhutan, the reserve has an area of 609.5 km2 and spans across Haa and Samtse Dzongkhags.
 
The park has an abundant variety of genetic species and ecosystem diversity of global importance. With its diverse tropical to alpine vegetation, it is home to wildlife such as Takin, Serow, Red panda, Himalayan musk deer, Himalayan thar, Tiger, Common leopard and Clouded leopard.
