WWF Bhutan conducted Art and Literary Competition last month to celebrate the year of the Tiger. We received close to 200 entries; the stories and messages expressed in poems, posters, and short stories convinced us that the Big Cats hold a warm place in the hearts and minds of the young.

The numbers of tigers in the wild increased in the last 12 years globally, for the first time. Tiger population is on the rise in Bhutan, Nepal, India, and Russia today. The arts and stories we received through the competition also expressed the message of hope and supports among the young population and paved the way forward for the future of the tigers.

Four entries from Sonamthang CS, two entries from Peljorling HSS, and one each from Samtse HSS, Ugyen Academy, Lobesa LSS, and Tendruk CS made it to the Top Five in Poetry competition.

Three entries from Sonamthang CS, and one each entry from Taktse CS, Samtse College of Education, Peljorling HSS, Samtse LSS, and Monfront Higher Matric Secondary School made it to the Top Five in Poster competition.

Two entries from Sonamthang CS, one each from Royal Thimphu College, College of Science and Technology, and Peljorling HSS made it to the Top Five in Short Story writing competition.
