"Earth Hour 2025" Celebrated with the Call to Action: "Crystal Clear Today, Thriving Tomorrow"
WWF-Mongolia successfully marked the 16th Earth Hour in the country, with the 2025 event celebrated under the theme "Crystal Clear Today, Thriving Tomorrow." This year’s Earth Hour coincided with World Water Day, further emphasizing the importance of fresh, safe water. The first-ever Earth Hour event in Mongolia took place in 2010 at Sukhbaatar Square in Ulaanbaatar, with over 2,000 people participating. Since then, WWF-Mongolia has organized the event annually, inspiring Mongolians to take action for the environment.
In 2023, WWF-Mongolia introduced specific thematic topics for Earth Hour to highlight key nature conservation issues. This year, the focus was on raising public awareness about the legal and regulatory framework for water protection and the need to conserve freshwater resources.
Through partnerships with research institutions, WWF-Mongolia shared critical information regarding the protection zones for headwaters and surface water bodies (such as rivers, lakes, and streams). In addition, WWF-Mongolia launched a virtual outreach campaign on freshwater conservation, which reached 45,845 people through press and social media channels. A short video on conservation zones for surface water bodies received 374,000 views. As part of Earth Hour's global movement for nature protection, WWF-Mongolia also highlighted Earth Hour’s history, its impact, and success stories, reaching a broad audience via various media platforms.
