Jomotshangkha Wildlife Sanctuary
JWS covers 334.73 square kilometres in Samdrup Jongkhar District along the southern border of with Assam. Its elevations range between 400m and 2,200m. Despite its small acreage, the park is an important habitat for Asian elephants, Gaur (Bos gaurus), and other tropical wildlife. The park is also a suitable habitat for the rare Pygmy hog (Porcula salvania) and Hispid hare (Caprolagus hispidus) known to inhabit in the adjacent Khaling Reserve in Assam, India with which JWS forms a trans-boundary reserve.
