WWF-Bhutan in collaboration the Department of Energy (DoE), Solar Energy International (SEI) and Solar Expert from WWF launched an online solar training today. Over 50 participants from the government agencies, academic institutions, corporate and private sectors will avail the self-paced training, which will be accessible until March 2025.
This is the third solar training organized by WWF-Bhutan in collaboration with the DOE and other relevant stakeholders in the last two years.
As the government aims to harness 1,000 megawatt of solar energy by 2030 and 5,000 megawatt by 2040, the solar training comes as a timely measure to support the government in unlocking the solar energy potential of the country. The capacity building initiative is expected to contribute towards building a resilient and diversified energy sector by filling the gap in technical capabilities.
WWF-Bhutan is committed to supporting sustainable green growth, which ensures low ecological and carbon footprints.
The online training will be followed by a in-person training on "Solar electric design and installation for battery based systems" in early 2025.
