Today (3 March 2026), the Panda Explore learning centre at WWF-Bhutan came alive with boundless curiosity, wonder, and energy, transforming it into a playground for discovery and adventure.

Students from Druk School and Motithang Higher Secondary School Forum joined us to celebrate #WorldWildlifeDay and kick-off the first event leading up to Earth Hour 2026.

We also proudly launched the โ€œLearn With WWFโ€“Bhutanโ€ program, which is a new initiative to inspire young minds into informed conservation champions. Through nature-focused activities, the program aims at nurturing a deeper understanding of Bhutanโ€™s incredible biodiversity.

The species in focus today was the Bengal tiger, and we were honored to have Dr Lungten Dorji, Senior Forestry Officer and Cat Specialist, share his experiences and insights on tiger conservation with the students.

Learn with WWF-Bhutan will be hosted monthly at the Panda Explore, during which sessions will spotlight WWF-Bhutanโ€™s 10 flagship species, namely the Bengal tiger, snow leopard, red panda, golden mahseer, takin, white-bellied heron, black necked crane, Asian elephant, and ruddy shelduck.

This launch marks the beginning of a series of exciting activities leading up to Earth Hour 2026, a global movement which celebrates its 20th year.

The Earth Hour 2026 campaign in #Bhutan is jointly organized by the Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation, Bhutan Foundation, Bhutan Ecological Society, Bhutan for Life and WWF-Bhutan. A month-long campaign will culminate in a special event at the Gelephu Mindfulness City on 28 March, ending with a symbolic โ€˜switch offโ€™ from 8:30โ€“9:30 PM.

This yearโ€™s campaign brings together organizations, institutions, and youth groups to drive environmental awareness and inspire nature-positive action.

Our media partner for this event is BBS Channel 3. Keep an eye out for the program on the channel.
