Protected area specialists exchange experiences

WWF-Mongolia is working collaboratively to improve the management of protected area administrations and to enhance the professional skills of specialists. As part of this effort, an exchange program has been launched to facilitate knowledge and experience sharing among specialists from the Uvs Lake Basin strictly Protected Area, Munkhkhairkhan National Park, and Mongol Els National Park.

WWF-Mongolia is working collaboratively to improve the management of protected area administrations and to enhance the professional skills of specialists. As part of this effort, an exchange program has been launched to facilitate knowledge and experience sharing among specialists from the Uvs Lake Basin strictly Protected Area, Munkhkhairkhan National Park, and Mongol Els National Park.  

The first phase of the program was held at Munkhkhairkhan National Park from March 15 to 24, 2026, with the participation of more than 10 specialists. During the opening session, the park’s management provided a comprehensive overview of their operations and highlighted key achievements.

To ensure the program was both engaging and practical, participants actively took part in ongoing conservation activities carried out by park specialists. These included research on mountain ungulates and participation in biotechnical measures to support wildlife. Through these hands-on activities, participants exchanged valuable knowledge and experiences. In addition, outreach and awareness activities were conducted for households living in the buffer zone.

“Sharing what we have learned is essential and significantly enhances the effectiveness of conservation efforts. This is why the program was initiated. In particular, we gained a better understanding of key priorities in awareness and outreach activities. We are confident that our cooperation will continue to strengthen,” participants noted.

The next exchange meeting is planned to take place at the the Uvs Lake Basin strictly Protected Area.
