Public education and awareness is essential to make environmental conservation activities more effective. Key players in this area are the training, awareness, information, and communcations officers at environmental organizations in the country. To date, these officers and specialists are supplied with the hardware such as photo or video cameras and drones that are useful for information sharing and public awareness. In this line, WWF-Mongolia organized a second-round training for Training and Public Awareness officers from Environmental Departments of four provinces and Protected Area and River Basin  Administrations in Western Mongolia in May, 2025.  It was a great opportunity for the participants to learn about new skills to use the hardware (video camera and drone) that are widely used for producing public awareness products.
The training that was attended  by 19 local officers. The training was organized in forms of classroom and practice demonstration.  The participants concluded that it was effective training where they learned many things usefull for their daily works.  They had a demonstration of use of camera and drone to produce quality products (e.g. taking good quality photos and processing the captured photos with a Lightroom application). Today, the public prefer to watch short videos on social media means.  On this training, the participants have learned about how to process their captured images with Adobe premiere for short videos. The training was full of learning and sharing experiences for the participants.
Recently, the use of drone and its need has become increasing in particular for making videos on the ground.  So, a focus was given to the proper use, installation, and launch of drone and installing drone application during the training. All these learning subjects and their demonstrations were much interesting and curious for the participants.
In 2023, the first training was organized and its participants also underlined effectiveness of the training.  B. Otgonpurevee, a Public Relations Officer of Environmental Department of Uvs province, said: “while I produced and released 28 short videos on the Department’s website and other social pages before the training, I produced 69 short videos in a year after the training, having written their backstories, filmed, and edited and compiled the captured images.  From the training, we are able to learn many new skills that were essential for our daily works”.
